Kako igrači treniraju nekoliko puta tjedno, imaju stoga povećanu potrošnju kalorija. Potrošnja se izračunava ne slijedeći način: tjelesna težina se multiplicira sa faktorom 70 do 75. Tako jedan igrač koji teži 75 kilograma ima potrebu od 5000 kcal/dnevno. Ovu količinu kalorija nažalost ne možemo unijeti „normalnim“ prehrambenim proizvodima. Tu se primjenjuju energetski proizvodi dodataka prehrani.

Potrošnja energije u tijeluopskrbljuje se iz ugljikohidrata i kreatinfosfata.
Za vrijeme intenzivne faze igranja potrebno je, u svakom slučaju, suplementirati kreatin u periodu od 6 tjedana. Prvih 5 dana uzimati 4 x 5 g dnevno, a u ostalom periodu dovoljno je 2 – 5 g dnevno.

Handball players train hard several times a week and to do so they consume plenty of calories. To assess how many calories are necessary for a player one multiplies body weight with a factor of 70-75, i.e. a player that has 75kg needs 5000 Cal daily. Such energy demand cannot be ingested simply by food, energizing food supplements are vitally needed.

Since energy expenditure in the body is produced from carbohydrates and creatine phosphate, during intense training or game season it is, also, necessary to supplement creatine for a period of 6 weeks. Loading is done in the first 5 days by ingestion of 5g four times a day and maintenance by the same amount twice daily.
